You are welcome to call in at The Casino Folk Museum to experience the local history of the Casino District. The museum is run by a group of local people dedicated to ensuring the past is not forgotten. From the pioneering settlers to the present day, all items are preserved for the future.

The Casino and District Historical Society was formed in 1965 with the aim of preserving all aspects of Australian culture, local aboriginal artefacts and implements, tools of trade, furniture, newspapers, photographs, diaries and much more. Group bookings are most welcome and morning tea can be provided at a small cost.

Open every Sunday: 10am-4pm and public holiday weekends. For special weekend, group bookings or weekday functions please phone.

Holiday packages of 3 or 5 day fishing adventures including comfortable accommodation riverside in the town of Evans Head, fish freezing facilities, all fish gilled and gutted and all bait and tackle supplied. The boat size suits groups of 10.

For shorter adventures choose your own path in a charter arrangement, or take a single day out on the boat. Ask about afternoon tours allowing you to chase jewfish (weather permitting).

Evans Head Surf Shack is more than just a great place to base yourself for surfing holiday! The friendly hosts also provide kayaks for casual or package hire, with some packages offering transfer to a tranquil location upriver from where to follow the tide downstream for the ultimate in cruisey paddling.

For the more adventurous, ask about ocean kayaking, surfing classes and tours, or go the whole surf experience and book into the dormitory 'surf shack' for surfing by day and BBQ's on the river by night!

The Keith Cameron Artworks and Sculpture Park is situated amoung the hills in the secenic valleys of the Upper Clarence. Walk through amazing landscapes and discover artworks large and small in thier carefully selected locations.

Keith's vast workshop is alive with an evolution of transforming creations, crafted individualy to serve for many generations.

The Gallery displays a wide range of original and creative products that express and reflect the local Aboriginal culture and talent ranging from wall paintings to boomerangs, didgeridoos and other artefacts to printmaking. High quality art on display is both modern and traditional and unique to the Casino & district culture.

Visitors to the gallery may be treated to exhibitions while artists are at work in the arts centre behind the gallery.

In the heart of the Upper Clarence region, 3 hours south west of Brisbane and 3 hours west of Byron Bay many rivers rush down to form the Clarence River on its long journey to the sea. Experience the fresh air and bushland scents, the vistas of tall trees clothing the ranges away to the horizon.

Some areas of Laniki are accessible by 2WD, more by 4WD but all is accessible by foot, such as our 3km of Clarence River frontage. Here the water holes, linked by rapids are home to platypus and waterbirds, while above Brushtailed Rockwallaby peer down from rocky outcrops.

Our 2km of Pretty Gully Creek, chuckling and gurgling in its narrow rocky bed, passes through eucalypt and rainforest on its way to join the Clarence, this is also walking country.

On the Camp ground a quiet observer may see honeyeaters, lorikeets, Glossy Cockatoo or Yellow Tailed Cockatoo among the Forest Oak, Tallowwood and Banksias. Redneck Wallaby graze by day, Rufous Bettong and Longnosed Bandicoot may visit by night.

Visitors to Paperbark Gallery will find an array of fine Australian art, calligraphy, furniture, woodwork, pottery, glassware, giftware and a large selection of handcrafted cards. The gallery features the woodworks and calligraphic art by owners Justin and Vanessa Crisp along with 60 artists in many mediums. Open Tuesday to Friday and Sunday 10am-4pm and located in the town’s Arts & Industry Estate, the gallery is a must-see place to visit while in the Richmond Valley.

Platypus Gallery showcases quality arts and crafts from across the region with an emphasis on providing opportunities for emerging artists in the Richmond Valley. The skate park and BMX track offers a great recreational area for both visiting and resident youth. An electric barbeque is located at the park. The Casino BMX Club has an active events calendar and is aiming towards continuing upgrades of the track to the State level of eight lanes.
