Anglers of all types will be thrilled by the vast array of fishing areas within the Richmond Valley, whether you want to dangle a line from a wharf or battle a giant tuna on the high seas. There are plenty of traditional favourites such as bream, flathead, whiting, snapper and jewfish along the beaches from December to May. The Richmond River can be fished for its entire length from peaceful spots on the banks or along its tributaries, particularly Bungawalbyn Creek west of Woodburn.
Pop into the Richmond Valley Visitor Centres for tide charts, 4WD beach access information and Saltwater/Freshwater Fishing guides.
