Evans Head – the Jewel in the Crown
Known as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the Richmond Valley, Evans Head boasts long unspoilt beaches, sandy river flats, fantastic fishing and a highly recommended surf break.
Evans Head is located 6 metres above sea-level at the mouth of the Evans River. It is 727 km north-east of Sydney between Iluka and Ballina; 11 km south-east of Woodburn and just minutes from the Pacific Highway. Being only two hours north of Coffs Harbour, two hours south of Brisbane and an hours drive south from Byron Bay, Evans Head is the perfect base from which to explore the rest of the Northern Rivers region.
Average temperatures range from 27.8° in summer and 20.3°in winter with and average rainfall of 156.5mm per month in summer and 127.9mm per month in winter.
3000 locals, however this figure increases significantly during the holiday season.
One of the coast’s best kept secrets, the laidback fishing and holiday village of Evans Head offers a myriad of experiences, making it an attractive holiday destination. Evans Head is surrounded by Bundjalung and Broadwater National Parks. The town itself has some broad surf beaches and sandy river flats which encourage a range of water sports including windsurfing, fishing, and boating.
The town boasts its own airport so for those fortunate enough to own or charter a private aircraft, what are you waiting for – just fly on in!
