Casino is set in the heart of the Richmond Valley region on the banks of the Richmond River at the junction of the Bruxner Highway and Summerland Way, 733 km north of Sydney and 256 km south of Brisbane.
Population: Approximately 11,000

Latitude 28°52’S Longitude 153°. The sub-tropical temperatures range from 18 – 31°c in summer and 22 – 6°c in winter making Casino an ideal climate year round.

About:

Home to the Bundjalung people from ancient times, Casino was a central locus for Aboriginal culture and art, a rich history that continues today.

In the middle of the nineteenth century Henry Clay and George Stapleton claimed 30,000 acres of land close to the Richmond River and named it after Monte Cassino in Italy.  Due to a misspelling when registering the town, it has since been known as Casino. 

Today Casino is renowned for its quality beef production, timber and agriculture and as the rail and freight hub of the far north coast.

Education:

Casino’s three High Schools, seven Primary Schools, several Pre-Schools and day care centres and two Specialty Schools ensures children’s education is a priority.  Adult education is serviced by and ACE and TAFE in Casino and Southern Cross University is a 30 minute drive away.

A wide range of sporting venues and facilities are available in and around Casino including soccer, cricket, netball, rugby league, rugby union, AFL, golf, tennis and many other sports.
