“Commander of the Crown of Italy: Sir Henry Parkes and the Italians of New Italy”
In 1881 Sir Henry Parkes was made Commander of the Crown of Italy by King Umberto, recognising his actions in assisting 217 Italians stranded in New Caledonia to settle in Australia. This exhibition follows Parkes ongoing interest in the New Italy Settlement in northern NSW.
Venue: New Italy Museum, 11 km south of Woodburn on the Pacific Highway
