Annual Casino RSM/Windara Father’s Day Pig Races as always promises to be full of fun for the whole family and totally entertaining. Woodburn Spring Orchid Show

The Woodburn-Evans Head & District Orchid & Foliage Society will again host the popular annual Woodburn Orchid Show, the biggest of its kind on the Northern Rivers, from Friday 16 September to Sunday 18 September. Friday and Saturday 8am-4pm and Sunday 8am-2pm. The three-day Show draws orchid lovers from across the State, as well as from Queensland, to view the exquisite 400 plus orchids on display. It is also a great opportunity to pick up a bargain on the hundreds of propagated items available. The Show is held in the Woodburn Hall.

St Mark's Spring Fair is on again. Enter a variety of cut flowers for the competition, or browse the various stalls. With plants, cooking, sweets and produce, craft, raffles, Solomon's and jewellery there is plenty to have a look at. Morning tea and Lunch available.

Entries recieved between 7.30am and 9am, judging at 10am and presentations between 12pm and 12.30pm.

Official opening 10.30 to 11am

Antiques and collectables can be valuated from 11.30am

Carp are once again on the agenda as the annual muster is about to happen for the Richmond, Wilson's and Bungawalbin catchments in the Casino Carp Muster. This year the, Casino RSM Social Fishing Club is offering AUD4,000 in prizes for some of the best carp catches. Carp is a well-known pest because of its destructive bottom-feeding habits, which is why it's a great idea to fish them out of the rivers. You can register at the Casino RSM Club or online through the website. Weigh-in will be behind the Casino RSM Club. The best provincial longboarding in Australia will feature120 longboarders from Victoria to the Sunshine Coast competing in the annual Evans Head Malibu Classic, formally the Evans Head Longboard Invitational.

Over the long weekend there will be live music, BBQ’s and refreshments available and on the public holiday Monday a beachside market. Spectators should get along to see surfboards from another era. The increasingly popular ‘retro’ competition division featuring pre 1982 single fin shortboards and the pre 1968 under 40’s Old Mal division will provide all the nostalgia from the days of old.

Woodburn Riverside Festival

The annual Woodburn Riverside Festival is a full day of family-oriented activities and entertainment, centred on the Richmond River and the adjacent Riverside Park at Woodburn. 
The many attractions include a raft race, dragon boats, water-skiing demonstrations, markets and a barbecue. Activities for children include rides, a jumping castle and face painting. Musical entertainment throughout the day will be provided by Community Radio 88.9 FM, and a live band in the evening. A fireworks display at 8pm will round off a fantastic day for the whole family.
